How to Use the Femora App: A Complete Guide

Femora is designed to make period and cycle tracking simple, beautiful, and insightful. Whether you've just downloaded the app or want to get more out of it, this guide walks you through everything Femora offers.

Getting Started

When you first open Femora, you'll go through a quick 3-step setup:

  1. Create your account — Sign up with your email, or use Google or Apple sign-in for a faster start.
  2. Enter your last period date — Tell Femora when your most recent period started. This helps the app calculate where you are in your cycle right away. You can skip this step if you're not sure.
  3. Set your average cycle length — Use the slider to pick your typical cycle length (anywhere from 21 to 40 days). If you don't know, the default of 28 days is a great starting point — Femora will learn your actual pattern over time.

That's it — you're ready to start tracking!

The Dashboard

The dashboard is your home screen and gives you a complete snapshot of your cycle at a glance.

Cycle Ring

The centerpiece of the dashboard is the Cycle Ring — a colorful circular chart that shows exactly where you are in your cycle. Each of the four phases is represented by a different color:

A small dot on the ring marks your current day, and the center displays "Day X of Y" so you always know where you stand.

Phase Insights

Below the cycle ring, you'll see a Phase Insight card with tips specific to your current phase. Whether it's suggesting gentle exercise during your period or noting that energy levels tend to peak during the follicular phase, these insights help you work with your cycle, not against it.

Upcoming Dates

The dashboard also shows your next predicted period date and estimated ovulation date with countdowns, so you're never caught off guard.

Logging Your Day

Daily logging is at the heart of Femora. The more you log, the smarter your predictions become.

To log a day, tap the log button from the dashboard or select any day on the calendar. You can track:

All fields are optional — log as much or as little as you want. Even logging just your flow helps Femora improve its predictions.

The Calendar

The calendar gives you a monthly view of your cycle, color-coded so you can see patterns at a glance:

Tap any day to see what you logged — flow, cramps, mood, and notes all appear in a detail panel. You can edit past entries or add new ones for days you missed.

Insights & Predictions

The Insights screen helps you understand your cycle over time:

Femora's prediction algorithm gets smarter with every period you log. With 2-5 logged periods, it uses a simple average. After 6 or more, it switches to a weighted average of your most recent cycles for higher accuracy.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Femora

  1. Log every day — Even a quick mood or symptom entry helps build a complete picture of your health patterns.
  2. Log your period start and end — This is the most important data for accurate predictions.
  3. Check your insights monthly — Watch how your averages evolve and look for patterns in your symptoms.
  4. Share with your doctor — Your cycle history and symptom data can be valuable during healthcare visits.

Privacy First

Your health data is personal. Femora encrypts your data and never sells it to third parties. You're always in control of your information.
